In 2019, Kolding faced the challenge of needing more residences for the many young people who call the city home. With the IBA International Business Academy just around the corner, the choice fell on Sdr. Havnegade, and brand-new youth residences were built.

The residences are built around a courtyard environment that allows residents a private area in the middle of the new buildings. This has resulted in a sense of community that not only connects the buildings but also fits perfectly into Kolding’s cityscape.

The entrance areas consist of wide stairs that access the courtyard, thus the buildings. The entrances and details of the construction are clad with Frøslev Western Red Cedar wood, resulting in a characteristic, reddish glow.
