Private holiday home
A location right by the preserved Little Norway and with wonderful Danish plants and nature in the backyard form excellent conditions for a fantastic holiday home. Fortunately, the building owner was able to see the potential, and the result is this unique holiday home which was completed in 2014 and now adorns the natural landscape of Saltum.
Both the façade and the terrace are clad with ThermoAsk from Frøslev Træ which truly allows the holiday home to blend in with the beautiful surroundings. The sloping wall facing the open meadow almost makes you feel as if the house has emerged from the ground with no human intervention which is emphasised by the grass growing on the wall when the weather permits.
ThermoAsk is an exciting material to work with. It is heat-treated with no use of toxins or harmful gases, giving it a distinctive, dark brown glow while offering excellent durability. Over time, the wood will patinate into a beautiful, silver-grey shade that will allow the holiday home to blend even more in with nature.
Architect Odd P Arkitektur saw all the same possibilities as the building owner, and together they brought this exciting project to life. It seems as if it has always belonged to the wonderful nature in Saltum.
