Playground of Tårnlegepladsen,
A donation from A.P Møller og Hustru Chastine Mc-Kinney Møllers Fond til almene Formål made it possible to realise the renewal of the playground Tårnlegepladsen in the park of Fælledparken, Copenhagen. The brand-new playground was ready in 2011 and has since been a wonderful place for children in Copenhagen to spend time.
The towers form the framework for a playground that challenges motor skills - and part of this playground is the mirror house, Spejlhuset, which is clad with ThermoWood from Frøslev Træ that carries the Nordic Swan Ecolabel. Inspired by the five iconic towers in Copenhagen, the playground is ideal for interactive and challenging play for children of all ages with lots of physical activity and a splash of competition.
ThermoWood, which is used for the mirror housing, is a very special wood product. It is heat-treated using heat and steam, is free of toxins and harmful gases which makes it ideal for a playground with children who should be able to play freely without fearing that they will destroy something. ThermoWood’s durability is superior.
The architect behind the mirror house is MLRP that worked together with contractor A.F. Hansen to bring the distinctive project to life. The building owner is the City of Copenhagen that now has a very special playground that provides space for play and exploration for all children in Copenhagen.
