Thermowood Fyr Brand HF VUC Nyborg 02

HF & VUC Fyn Nyborg

The new educational building at VUC Nyborg opened in the spring of 2021. The building is designed to not be too prominent when seen from the ramparts of Nyborg. The use of light wood without paint makes the building look like a natural addition to the surrounding green areas, especially when combined with the overgrown roof.

The wood is fire-proofed Embla ThermoWood from Frøslev Træ, adding the beautiful, golden brown shade. Over time, it will patinate into a uniform grey shade in beautiful harmony with the green roof and the overgrown pergola.

ThermoWood is an interesting material as it is heat-treated with no use of toxins and harmful gases, so it remains nice and useful for a long time in the Danish weather. Architect Jesper Thyge and contractor Dreier & Co worked together on this building.

Wood and profiles

  • FRX fire-proofed and thermally modified Frøslev Embla pine.
  • Bar code profiles (see drawings). The bar code profiles comply with the requirements for Cl. 2 cladding when one of the combination options is met.
