Campus Odense
The new residence hall for the University of Southern Denmark in Odense was completed in 2015 and is based on the idea of good communities. The 250 student residences are located in three connected 15-story buildings that offer plenty of space for the many students who spend their time at the University of Southern Denmark each year.
The upper floors have magnificent views and are reserved for communal activities. The roof terraces are clad with ThermoAsk from Frøslev Træ, and there is room for group rooms, study areas and a banquet hall. ThermoAsk has been heat-treated without the use of toxins or harmful gases and has great durability.
The size of this project is on a scale so huge that it can be quite difficult to grasp. Therefore, it was important that the look of the buildings matched the cityscape while being both functional and durable. That was achieved by using fun shapes and materials that harmonise with the surrounding nature.
C. F. Møller Architects worked with engineer Niras to bring the major construction to life. The building owner is A.P. Møller og Hustru Chastine Mc-Kinney Møllers Fond til Almene Formål. The many students ready to prepare their future at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense are now offered a place to live.
