Beach of Trummen, Geologen

At the time of writing, Trummen Strand in Växjö, which was completed in 2018, is the largest wood project in Sweden and one of the largest wood projects in Europe. The project is located south of the city centre overlooking the lake of Trummen. The building with flats was built of solid wood and clad with cedar shingles from Frøslev Træ.

The building was built with city planning in mind. The aesthetic look fits well into the area while offering attractive flats for the residents. Passers-by can also enjoy the beautiful, natural façade that shows what a wooden structure can offer the cityscape.

This is a huge project, but architecture and materials are still first-class. The project won the jury's 2019 Wood Building Award of the Year.

Architects Fojab Arkitekter were behind the award-winning project that now adorns the landscape of the Swedish city of Växjö. The use of cedar wood shingles is becoming popular in Scandinavian architecture and building tradition. This project clearly illustrates why.
