In the heart of Aarhus, courtyard environments with bicycle sheds were built on the densely built-up Lokesvej in 2021. The purpose of the new bicycle sheds was to provide extra space for the many residents in the area who use their bicycles for transportation every day.

The sheds are covered with open, slatted cladding made of Frøslev Embla ThermoWood in pine. It gives the characteristic light expression that can be seen in the pictures. ThermoWood is an interesting material as it is heat-treated with no use of toxins and harmful gases, so it remains nice and useful for a long time in the Danish weather.

Architect Arkitema designed the bike sheds that blend into the surrounding buildings and add a modern and streamlined look to the area.
